St. Patty’s Day List of Activities |

The ultimate List of activities that I usually do with kids on a St. Patrick’s day! Science, sensory, matching activities, fine motor, coloring and painting. Good for their fine motors skills and cognitive development! We love seasonal activities and just feel the festivity! Happy St. Patty’s Day!

1. UNLOCK THE RAINBOW COLORS

Materials Needed:
– Water
– Vinegar
– Food color
– Baking Soda
– Sensory Bin
– Squirt bottle
– Mini buckets (I used black candy bucket that usually can find everywhere during Halloween and St. Patty’s Season)

Instructions:
– Put 2 to 4 drops of food coloring in the mini buckets.
– Add about 1 spoonful of baking soda.
– Fill the squirt bottle with 50%water and 50%vinegar.
– Squeeze the bottle on to the mini buckets and see the color fizz!
– Have the kids say the color every time they unlock the color.

Kids love doing this experiment, they enjoy squirting the bottle and see the beautiful colors fizzes, lots of sensory (looking at the color rises, the sound, the smell, they touch the solution sometimes and get very playful with it – good for sensory and fine motor skills!

2. GOLD COINS SENSORY BIN
Fill the sensory bin with anything you have, colored rice, green mung bean, colored pasta, colored chickpeas. Place the gold coins on top, bring in some sensory tools like tweezers, cups and have them pick the coin and fill the pot to make a pot of gold!

3. FINE MOTORS EXERCISE (Q-TIP PAINTING and GIANT PUSH PINS)
For fine motor skills development, I normally do the Q-tips and paint but I find the giant push pins more effective! The handle is too short yet safe enough for the kids to hold it properly like a pen, works wonder!

Materials needed:
– Clover Patterns Free Printable
– Kids Paint
– Q-tips
– Or Giant Push pins and an empty carton

Instructions:
– Dab the Q-tip on the lines.
– Poke the lines using push pins.

4. RAINBOW COLOR MATCHING
Working more on their fine motor + Cognitive development.

Materials:
– Rainbow and Pot of Gold Free Printable
– Round Dot Sticker 3/4 inch diameter
– Or Dab Markers if you don’t have round dot stickers
– Or simply kids paints or water color

Instructions:
Match the colored sticker to the line using any of the following below:
– Round dot colored sticker
– Dab marker
– water color or paint using thumbs
– round colored past a or cheerios

5. PAINTING SHAMROCKS:

Can’t go wrong with painting, kids love painting! From time to time during the St. Patty’s Season, there were some shamrocks that appears at the stores or a local business in your area that sells shamrocks for painting. Grab it if you can!
– You can hide the shamrocks
– Paint them
– And hide them again!

6. COLORING, TRACING AND CUTTING ACTIVITIES:

Kids love to color, trace and cut! I found this free St. Patrick’s free printable online with lots of cognitive activities for kids. I’m sure you can find more on line as well. 🙂
